Special Concert & Workshop: Making Your Story Sing

Join writing coach Dick Weiss and singer-songwriter Phoebe Claggett for a writing workshop that is both useful and entertaining -- a concert and a seminar all rolled into one.
In a song-filled two-hour session, Weiss and Claggett demonstrate the techniques that songwriters use to tell their tales and how they might be applied to the stories you write. Songwriters use metaphors. They say a lot using very few words. They build stories with their lyrics that keep listeners listening and hanging on each word. They also are personal, close to the bone, intimate and yet universal.
How do they do that? Weiss and Claggett supply some of the answers.
Claggett is a 20-year-old, Kenyon College student who has been singing in clubs around St. Louis. Quite precocious, she’s already written dozens of songs, many of which are available on CD and iTunes. Weiss is a full-time writing coach with 35 years experience at American newspapers, most recently the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
